Adjusting float on holley
4175 Holley Float Toe adjustment. I am using a 4175 spreadbore Holly. No where can I find the float adjustment settings. It does not have a site glass to see the adjustment. Every time I make a right turn, the carb gets flooded with gas and dies. I need the float toe height for primary and secondary floats.Loosen the screw SLIGHTLY, and turn the nut to adjust the float level. Once the front float is set, repeat the procedure for the rear float. Then adjust the air/fuel mixture as mentioned previously. If you don't have a vacuum gauge, start at 1 1/2 turns out, and adjust until you get the highest idle rpm.Insert a 0.015 feeler gauge between the pump arm and the adjustment screw bottom. The pump arm should move down a bit when the feeler gauge blade is inserted. The proper adjustment prevents the diaphragm from getting stretched to its maximum limit at wide open throttle.

We install the float and secure it with its hinge pin. The float dimension should be 1/4″ at a point 180 degrees from the inlet valve. Ours needs adjustment. Needle nose pliers are used to carefully bend the adjustment arm on our float. We end up removing and reinstalling the float a couple times before we get the setting right.On the primary I can insert a 5/16 inch bit under the outside end of the bowl before the end curve.
